the boob.

I had decided to breastfeed Dyson because of the health benefits for him. It was definitely hard to adjust to when he was literally on my breast around the clock. He used it to eat as well as pacify himself. There were times when I wanted to just give it up the first couple weeks... because it took so much of my time. It takes A LOT of commitment because you can't have your partner or your family feeding him for you. I've tried pumping but he still wouldn't take milk out of a bottle. At times it just felt you were doing everything on your own... although Ken has been a great supporter.

Six weeks later, it has finally become easier. Having a baby in general has gotten easier from getting ourselves ready to go out... to feeding... to his sleeping schedule... etc. And he no longer sucks on my boobs for three hours straight to pacify himself, thank god. Read more about babies using boobs as a pacifier on the comments here: http://www.easybabylife.com/3-month-old-using-breast-as-pacifier.html.

Now that I am going to work in about three weeks, I am going to start pumping and getting him used to a bottle. He has only used the bottle twice so far... I'm hoping he will get used to it in the next couple of weeks.

it's a boy!

hahah, i know this is late.

IT'S A BOY!

Dyson Radar Edwards
Born on January 27, 2011 at 2:20PM
8 lbs 8.6 oz, 21 in

I started having contractions around midnight on the 27th. I called Jeng to make sure that this was really it... Ken didn't believe me as he was trying to get some sleep after working all day. Finally, I called the hospital around 1:30am. They told me to just wait it out at home since I was going natural. At 4am, I couldn't "wait it out" anymore and we went to the hospital. I was so unprepared.... I didn't think I was going to be in labor the day I was due... I was 5cm dilated once we reached the hospital. I spent most of my time in the jacuzzi until I reached about 8 cm about 2-3 hours later. I wanted to start pushing already... As I laid in bed, my water finally completely broke... shortly after, my contractions were closer together and I was starting to push... I was pushing for two hours when the midwife said I may need to have a c-section or use a VAC. The doctor came in and said she felt I should keep pushing... and that baby would arrive in about half an hour... Well, two more hours passed and still no baby... I went for the VAC.. Baby's head was still stuck so they snipped me "down there." --- at 2:20 PM... Baby was finally in my arms! The doctor then quickly tried to stitch me up... which was the worst pain of them all! --- In the middle of stitching they finally gave me some shots to relieve the pain... I had 4th degree cuts! All natural!

Brian, Jeng, Ari, Henny, and Ken's parents came to visit that night... We stayed until noon the next morning. & I didn't sleep for those first three days.

ultrasound at 20 weeks.

Baby, is 8 ounces :)
Mommy & Daddy gave me a big head!
Daddy has four other pictures of my feet to pick out some Jordans!

Baby would not stop moving. Baby was giving the radiologist a hard time with getting certain pictures of baby's head & brain. Baby would not get his/her head out of my pelvis. They had to tilt me almost upside down so baby would gravitate out of my pelvis and apply pressure several times to get baby to show his/her brain. Baby also hid his/her private parts knowing mommy and daddy didn't wanna know whether he/she was a girl or boy.

month four pictures.

seventeen weeks.

"Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop."
